From Core77: “ Makedo [is] a system of connectors that lets the child join a variety of material together, paper cups, cardboard, empty boxes, and whatever else you've got laying around. A series of simple (and safely blunted) tools enable the child to perform primitive construction operations and modify materials to accept the connectors, truly reinforcing the notion that you can shape the world around you with a little imagination and elbow grease.”

I had this in my Amazon cart for Christmas but never ordered it. Birthday's are coming up. May need to reconsider.

Very cool idea. To think our family makes do with tape, glue, wire and scissors! I may need to look into this for birthdays.

My youngest got two sets of these for Christmas from Grandma. (I recommended them because they looked so cool.) But in the post-Christmas clean-up, I went and put them in his closet, and we forgot about them!

My older son loved to construct things with cardboard when he was little, but regular scissors and tools made it such a challenge for him.

I'll pull the sets out, and if my younger guy makes anything interesting, I'll show you on Flickr!

you are very welcome, jacinda! ;)

mary, let me know if you do & if you like it.

heather, exactly -- i should have invested in tape companies ten years ago. :^P not to mention wire. i love the idea of tools that let you save on materials and money.

patricia, i'd love to see photos!

I bought Elliot the robot Makedo kit for Christmas and we all had fun assembling it.
